Florence is linked to Chianti with the state road SS222, commonly known as the “Chiantigiana”. The first suggested stop is Greve in Chianti, which is traditionally considered the gateway to Chianti. Once inhabited by the Etruscans, this town is very famous for the great explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano.

Next destination on our itinerary will take you to Panzano in Chianti, which became very known over the last few years for the superlative butcher shop and restaurant called Antica Macelleria Cecchini. If it is about lunchtime, we recommend to stop there. There are also some very good panoramic restaurants in the old part of the town.

As you continue along the Chiantigiana road you will find Castellina in Chianti, which sits in the province of Siena. One of the three towns in the original League of Chianti, Castellina has Etruscan roots and has always played an important role in the battles between Florence and Siena. Don’t miss “Via delle Volte”, where you can admire beautiful hidden streets with wine shops.

Between Castellina in Chianti and Poggibonsi, our suggestion is to take the SR429 road, where you will for sure enjoy driving the Supercar.

Once in Poggibonsi you can visit various beautiful monuments, one of the most important is “Fortezza di Poggio Imperiale”, the Medici fortress.

The return by Helicopter is from Mensanello Helipad, which is about 20 minutes away from Poggibonsi taking the SR68 road.
